Local Area Agreement

The Sustainable Community Strategy sets out how a range of public partners, as well as organisations from the, private, voluntary and community sectors, will work together to create a safe, healthy and more prosperous City.

The Local Area Agreement (LAA2) is seen as building upon the vision and priorities set out in the Community Strategy, which recognises that Hull has much to be proud of – but still faces many challenges.

Key themes to be addressed include:

• Earning
• Learning
• Health and Wellbeing
• Safe

The LAA2 prioritises those goals and gives responsibility to individuals and organisations to be accountable for meeting key targets and milestones, which are constantly monitored and re-evaluated. Meeting or exceeding those targets will also bring financial rewards to the City. The agreement also aims to simplify complex funding streams in order to create more flexibility in the provision of services which meet local needs.

Hull’s Local Strategic Partnership ONE HULL is responsible for both key documents and how partners work collectively to create a City where people want to live in, work in and invest in.

In this context, ONE HULL is also about sharing common goals, information and areas of best practice – acting like ambassadors for local people while sharing the benefits partnership working can bring. The LAA2 will create better and more effective working between Government departments and members across the ONE HULL Partnership - and in giving local people a stronger voice and greater influence over decision making.

The business sector and the voluntary and community sectors (VCS) also have a crucial role to play. The VCS can help identify local priorities and concerns, while local businesses can help support the delivery and development of measures designed to attract investment, create employment and stimulate opportunities for people to set up their own business.
